Snowglobe with Frame and Base Tutorial
Snowglobe with perfect matching frame and base.
This tutorial will show you how to not only make a snowglobe, using a rather unusual shape, but also how to have a perfectly matching frame and base to go with it. A custom snowglobe with frame and base. When I first saw snowglobes I wanted to make them too and use them, but with so many having rules about commercial usage of globes and frames and snow globe bases, I decided to learn to make my own. The snowglobe above is one I have made including the frame and base in PSP. The additional sparkles are a plug in filter you can download here.
If it doesn't work, you may need MSVCRT10 dll. You can download it here. If you don't know where to install your filter and file I have a small help page here that will help you to learn where to install your filter after downloading. Both of these files are zip files. If you do not have an unzipping program. You will need to get one. I suggest WinZip myself, but there are other good ones out there that work just as well. Most unzipping programs have a free/evaluation version available for download. After you download your filter and file, you can go to the help page, follow the directions, close the page and come right back to this page.
First begin by selecting an image to use in your snowglobe. Below is the pic I have chosen to use for this snowglobe tutorial. I have shown it smaller than the one I have for the purpose of this snowglobe tutorial.

In your left hand side menu of PSP, go to your selection tool. Left click on it, and choose the shape you want your globe to be. The peacock snowglobe above was made with the pentagon shape. The shape I am using for this tutorial is an octagon. Start at the left top corner of the globe you will be making. Start at the left and work down and to the right, as my starting point is shown below. This is because of the unique shape our globe will be. Moving you curser to the across to the right and downward, expanding your shape, until you have the size you want. If you don't get it right, simply go to edit "undo" and try again until you get what you want in the dotted outline.
