Janim Lake Applet Tutorial
For the applet seen on the introduction page to the Janim Lake Applet Tutorial, you will need to download the applet from here. The link opens in a new browser window so when you have finished downloading it, simply close the page and you'll be right back to this page. I highly recommend downloading the complete package with examples and documentation. It also includes a snow class file you will need for the Janim Lake Applet with Snow Tutorial.
You will also need 3 pictures to work with. All must be the same size or your applet will not work. You may use animated gifs, or jpg's. Try to keep your total for all 3 pictures under 120k to save download times. It works best that way. After downloading your Janim Lake Applet, you will need to upload the "Janim.class" file to your own webspace. Simply upload the applet class file as you would any other graphic to your web space. It MUST be in the same folder as the pictures you are going to use in order to work. As some webhost servers do change Uppercase letters to lower case on uploading, be sure that after uploading your class file it is shown as "Janim.class" with an upper case "J". If it is lower case, you will need to change it in your parameters to a lower case "J", so that your applet will work. NOTE: The applet will only display AFTER you have saved the page it will be on. It will NOT show in a "preview" or "edit" mode the first time.
For our Janim Lake applet tutorial, below are the three pictures I am going to work with. I am using small ones for the purpose of this tutorial. All 3 are the same size and have lakes already in the picture, which is an easy way to learn and get started with.
