Installing Plug in Filters

If you don't have a lot of filters this is really not a problem you can install directly to your PSP plug-ins folder.

How to install your filter

Your filter needs to be unzipped directly into your Plug Ins folder in PSP. PSP needs to be closed, not running when you install your filters. You can find it by going to the icon on my desktop "My Computer" Right click and select "Open". Scroll down to "Drive C" and scroll down to "Program Files", then finding "Jasc Software", left click to open it and then selecting Paint Shop Pro. Left click on it and everything in PSP will open up. Find your plug ins folder and unzip your filter into it. If you have a lot of plug-in filters, you will need to create a separate folder for your plug-ins and then tell Paint Shop where to find them when you want to use them. Too many filters in your plug-ins folder directly in Paint Shop can cause it to run slowly, freeze or even crash in the middle of things! In some instances you will need to tell Paint Shop where to find the filter you want to use.

Installing the MSVCRT10 dll file

To locate your Windows sytems folders, where the MSCRCT10dll file needs to be installed, This is the way I do it (and I have used Windows 98, ME, NT and now have XP, and have XP set up to operate as much as possible as 98) is by going to the icon on my desktop "My Computer" Right click and select "Open". Scroll down to "Drive C", Locate "WINDOWS" and double click to open it. I scroll down from there until I reach System 32, and then left click to open that. I unzip the file into it, and then close everything up.

This needs to be installed in your Windows system folders. See below for where to install it in several versions of Windows.

Windows 98---unzip and install directly into you Windows System Folder
It will look like this in you Windows files: C\Windows\system folder

Windows ME---unzip and install directly into your Windows System Folders
It will look like this in your system files: C\Windows\System folder

Windows 2000---unzip and install directly in your Windows folders
This looks a bit different in your systems files: C\Winnt\System folder

Windows XP---unzip and install directly into your Windows System 32 folder
It is listed as: C\Windows\System32
